24 September 2026 – A technical site visit was conducted at Batang Ai Hydropower Station, Lubok Antu, to inspect Sarawak Energy Berhad’s (SEB) electric-powered boat. Led by the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS), the visit involved SRB, the Sarawak Region Marine Department and SEB, with discussions on safety equipment, licensing and River Transport Permit (RTP)requirements. The boat is planned to be showcased during Sarawak Regatta 2026, where SEB will demonstrate its green technology initiative with the support of relevant strategic agencies, aligned with PCDS 2030 and the SDGs.

SRB and the Marine Department advised SEB to expedite the submission of the documentation including Boat Plan, Builder’s Certificate and other supporting documents. The boat shall only be allowed to operate upon obtaining a valid licence and RTP. SEB plans to transport the boat to Kuching in October 2026 and proposed temporary placement at the SRB Site Office, Satok, or another suitable locations, subject to official application, site reconnaissance and consideration of security, charging facilities and suitable boat deployment access.
