The purpose of the visit was to provide a briefing on the proposed projects, discuss the implementation plans, and seek feedback from SRB regarding any requirements, regulatory matters, jurisdictional authority, approvals, and compliance with the applicable rules and procedures under SRB.

Please Click Here To View Album Marudi, Sarawak | Regatta Baram 2026 Lembaga Sungai-Sungai Sarawak (LSS) Wilayah III, Miri telah dilantik sebagai agensi teknikal dalam menjayakan penganjuran Regatta Baram 2026 yang telah berlangsung pada 23 hingga 26 Julai 2026, iaitu sebuah acara berprestij yang menghimpunkan komuniti setempat, agensi kerajaan dan pelbagai pihak berkepentingan dalam memartabatkan warisan sukan air serta budaya masyarakat di Baram. Majlis perasmian Regatta Baram 2026 telah disempurnakan oleh Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Abang Openg, Premier Sarawak, yang sentiasa komited dalam memperkasakan pembangunan kawasan luar bandar serta memelihara warisan budaya negeri Sarawak. Sebagai agensi yang dipertanggungjawabkan dalam pengurusan sungai dan keselamatan navigasi, LSS Wilayah III, Miri telah menggerakkan pasukan teknikal bagi memastikan keseluruhan penganjuran berlangsung dengan selamat, teratur dan lancar. Antara tanggungjawab utama yang dilaksanakan adalah pemeriksaan laluan perlumbaan, penyelarasan aspek keselamatan navigasi, kawalan pergerakan vesel, pemantauan operasi di sepanjang laluan regatta serta penyediaan khidmat nasihat teknikal kepada Jawatankuasa Penganjur. Kejayaan Regatta Baram 2026 merupakan hasil kerjasama erat antara Pejabat Daerah Marudi selaku penganjur utama bersama Jawatankuasa Induk Regatta Baram 2026, semua agensi Kerajaan Negeri dan Persekutuan, Pejabat Ahli-Ahli Yang Berhormat, Pusat Khidmat, Residen Bahagian Miri, Pusat Pembangunan Komuniti (PDK), KMKK, ketua-ketua masyarakat, pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO), pihak media serta semua pihak yang telah menyumbang secara langsung dan tidak langsung. LSS Wilayah III, Miri sentiasa komited untuk terus memperkukuh kerjasama strategik bersama semua pihak dalam memastikan setiap aktiviti sungai di Sarawak dilaksanakan secara selamat, cekap dan mampan demi kesejahteraan rakyat serta pembangunan negeri.

Lembaga Sungai-Sungai Sarawak (LSS) Wilayah III, Miri telah menyertai Majlis Bandaraya Miri (MBM) siri Program Gotong-Royong Kempen Pembersihan Kampung Angkat LA21/SDG 2026 serta Program Green Heroes Community Tour 2026: Jelajah Komuniti Lestari Miri. Program ini telah diadakan di beberapa lokasi terpilih sekitar Bandar Raya Miri, iaitu pada 11 Julai 2026 di Piasau Jaya, 18 Julai 2026 di Kampung Pujut Adong dan 25 Julai 2026 di Kampung Pangkalan Lutong. Sepanjang penganjuran program tersebut, LSS Wilayah III telah menyertai pelbagai aktiviti, termasuk penyediaan pameran berkaitan fungsi dan peranan LSS, penyampaian ceramah kesedaran mengenai aspek keselamatan pelayaran, pemuliharaan sungai serta kepentingan menjaga kebersihan sungai dan alam sekitar. Selain itu, warga LSS turut mengambil bahagian dalam aktiviti gotong-royong membersihkan kawasan kampung, penanaman pokok serta pelbagai aktiviti kemasyarakatan bersama agensi kerajaan, pihak berkuasa tempatan, pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) dan penduduk setempat. Penglibatan LSS dalam program ini membuktikan komitmen berterusan agensi dalam menyokong pelaksanaan Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan (SDG) di samping meningkatkan kesedaran awam mengenai kepentingan pemeliharaan sungai sebagai aset semula jadi yang perlu dipelihara untuk generasi akan datang. Program ini turut menjadi platform yang berkesan dalam memperkukuhkan hubungan kerjasama strategik antara pelbagai pihak termasuk jabatan dan agensi kerajaan, pihak berkuasa tempatan, institusi pendidikan, pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO), syarikat swasta serta komuniti setempat. Please Click Here To View Album KUCHING, 21 July 2026 – An engagement session with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) on the proposed Mapai–Tondong 3rd and 4th 500kV Transmission Line Project was held at the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) Headquarters to discuss the project development progress and regulatory requirements relating to the proposed construction of overhead electric cable crossings over major rivers in Sarawak. The session was chaired by the Asst. Controller (Enforcement and Legal), representing the Controller of SRB, and attended by senior officers from the Riverine Safety, Enforcement and Legal Sections and SRB Region I, Kuching.  SEB presented an overview of the proposed 500kV transmission line project, which will extend approximately 368 kilometres from Mapai, Kanowit to Tondong, Bau, crossing 11 rivers across seven divisions in Sarawak. SEB also informed that the project is currently in the process of appointing a consultant to conduct the feasibility study as required by the State Planning Authority (SPA), the study outcome to serve as a reference for further project planning and implementation. During the discussion, SRB highlighted that all proposed works within rivers and riverbank reserves must comply with the provisions of the Sarawak Rivers Ordinance, 1993 and its subsidiary regulation, particularly requirements relating to navigation safety, protection of river facilities, and river cleanliness management.  SRB further advised SEB that upon completion of the feasibility study and during the implementation stage, the Project Proponent or appointed Contractor shall obtain SRB approval by submitting the required engineering drawings, supporting documents, prescribed fees, and conducting a joint site inspection. SRB will provide comments and recommendations based on the inspection findings to ensure compliance with the relevant requirements. The engagement session concluded with constructive discussions, reaffirming the commitment of both parties to ensuring the project is implemented in compliance with statutory requirements while safeguarding navigation safety and supporting the sustainable management of Sarawak’s waterways.

Ding Tiew Wong (Bersara).  Ini adalah salah satu polisi perlindungan yang disediakan oleh Lembaga Sungai-Sungai Sarawak selaku majikan di dalam melaksanakan tanggungjawab menjaga hal-hal kebajikan para kakitangan dan juga sebagai persediaan di dalam membantu meringankan beban kakitangan sekiranya berlaku apa-apa kejadian yang tidak diingini menimpa mereka ketika melaksanakan tugas dan tanggungjawab yang diamanahkan. Turut hadir bersama wakil pengurusan dan pegawai LSS.

23 Julai 2026 – Satu sesi perbincangan berkaitan Draf Klasifikasi Fail LSS telah diadakan bersama pihak PUSTAKA. Sesi perbincangan ini merupakan salah satu langkah persediaan LSS dalam melaksanakan Klasifikasi Fail yang selaras bagi memastikan pengurusan rekod dan dokumen dapat dilaksanakan secara lebih teratur, sistematik dan berkesan. Perbincangan tersebut juga menjadi platform untuk meneliti serta menambah baik draf klasifikasi fail agar selaras dengan keperluan pengurusan rekod yang berkesan. LSS merakamkan penghargaan kepada pihak PUSTAKA atas kerjasama dan perkongsian pandangan yang diberikan dalam menjayakan sesi perbincangan ini.

SIBU, 17 July 2026 – The Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) conducted a Site Meeting and Site Handing Over for the Maintenance Dredging Works to Remove Sediment at the R.C. Pontoon Wharf, Pulau Babi, Sibu. The session was led by the Asst. Controller (Riverine Safety), the Superintending Officer (S.O.) for the project, together with the appointed Contractor, Sara-Chem Sdn. Bhd. Also in attendance were the Civil Engineer and Asst. Enforcement Officer from SRB Region II, Sibu, and the Contractor’s engineer and technical team. The session marked the official commencement of the project and included discussions on the scope of works, implementation schedule, contractual obligations, and safety requirements to ensure the successful execution of the works. The maintenance dredging works are undertaken to remove sediment at the R.C. Pontoon Wharf, Pulau Babi, Sibu, in order to restore the required navigable water depth, enhance navigational safety, and maintain the operational functionality of the berthing facility.  To facilitate the safe execution of the works, a Riverine Notice was issued to notify the shipping community, masters, and river users that the temporary closure of the R.C. Pontoon Wharf, Pulau Babi, Burung Apu R.C. Wharf, and R.C. Pontoon Arang Wharf will take effect from 23 July 2026 for a period of six (6) months. The notice also seeks their full cooperation in complying with the instructions issued by the officer on duty, proceeding with extreme caution, and reducing speed when passing through the vicinity of the worksite to prevent any untoward incidents. During this period, all vessel operations, including loading and unloading activities, will be temporarily relocated to Ding Lik Kong Wharf, Sungai Merah, Sibu. During the execution of the works, SRB emphasised that the Contractor shall adhere to the requirements set by the relevant agencies, implement all necessary safety measures, and prioritise safety and environmental cleanliness to maintain safe and clean river conditions. The implementation of this project reflects SRB’s commitment towards safe, clean, and sustainable rivers for Sarawak by ensuring that its riverine transport and facilities remain safe, affordable, and reliable in supporting the operational needs of the shipping community, river users, and the general public.

KUCHING, 14 July 2026 – The Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) held an engagement session with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Sarawak Region. delegation was led by Kepten Maritim Simon Templer Lo Anak Tusa, Deputy Director of Maritime Operations, Sarawak Region, accompanied by his entourage. The session was chaired by the Assistant Controller (Enforcement and Legal), representing the Controller of SRB and attended by senior officers from the respective divisions. The engagement session comprehensively discussed matters related to strengthening inter-agency cooperation with relevant agencies, enhancing coordination, and fostering mutual understanding of respective functions, jurisdictions, and responsibilities, particularly in relation to navigational safety, enforcement activities, and the effective management of rivers in Sarawak. Among the key matters discussed was the ongoing construction of bridge across Sungai Sarawak at Sejingkat, Kuching Division, particularly the temporary headroom restriction during the bridge span stitching phase, which restricts vessels with an air draft exceeding 20 meters, including MMEA Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV 1) KM Tun Fatimah, from transiting the area. The bridge is tentatively scheduled for completion in October 2026 with a vertical clearance of 26 meters above Mean Higher High Water Level (MHHWL) and adequate Aids to Navigation (AtoN) to ensure safe navigation. SRB highlighted that it continues to enforce the restriction through the issuance of Riverine Notices, provide guidance to the shipping community and river users, and closely monitor and coordinate with the project owner, contractor, MTRA consultant, and relevant agencies to ensure compliance with navigational safety requirements.  The engagement session signifies SRB’s continued commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships towards achieving safe, clean, and sustainable rivers for Sarawak.

The session was chaired by the Controller of the Sarawak Rivers Board, and attended by senior officers representing the Riverine Safety, Enforcement and Legal, Technical Services, and Administration Sections. During the briefing, SEB presented an overview of the proposed project, which involves the export of 1,000 MW of renewable energy from Sarawak to Singapore through a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) undersea power cable system spanning approximately 750 to 790 kilometres. SEB also updated SRB on the project's key milestones, including the Malaysian Cabinet's approval in February 2024, the Conditional Approval granted by Singapore's Energy Market Authority (EMA) in October 2025, and the approval from the Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN) in December 2025 for the proposed subsea survey works. The survey will cover Sarawak waters, the proposed landfall site at Sampadi, Lundu, and the land cable route leading to the transition yard. During the discussion, SRB emphasised that all proposed works affecting navigable rivers and riverbank reserves shall comply with the requirements of the Sarawak Rivers Ordinance, 1993 and its subsidiary regulations, particularly those relating to navigation safety and river cleanliness. SRB also requested SEB to submit the detailed engineering drawings, supporting documents, prescribed site inspection and processing fees, coordinate a joint site inspection with the Board, and provide the approved Marine Risk Assessment (MRA) study and other relevant documents for review prior to commencement of the proposed works. The engagement session concluded with constructive discussions, reaffirming the commitment of both parties to ensuring the project is implemented in compliance with statutory requirements while safeguarding navigation safety and supporting the sustainable management of Sarawak’s waterways.

22 June 2026 - The Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) Tender and Finance Committee Meeting No.2/2026 held at SRB Headquarters in Kuching, Sarawak. The meeting was chaired by YB Dr. Haji Safiee Bin Haji Ahmad, Chairman of SRB, and attended by the appointed members of the Tender and Finance Committee, as well as Lt. Col. Ding Tiew Wong (Retired), Controller of SRB. The meeting was held to deliberate and consider matters relating to SRB procurement proposals in accordance with the Committee's Terms of Reference and the current procurement procedures applicable to the statutory bodies. The meeting reflects SRB's commitment to ensuring that all procurement processes are conducted in a transparent, accountable, and ethical manner while adhering to the relevant rules and procedures. The session was chaired by the Controller of the Sarawak Rivers Board, with the ZECON Berhad delegation led by YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi bin Abdul Ghani, Independent Non-Executive Chairman of ZECON Berhad, and attended by SRB’s senior officers from relevant divisions and ZECON Berhad’s technical team. Among the matters discussed was the construction and operation of the Temporary Steel Bridge over Sungai Serai, Kuching, to facilitate the construction of the main bridge. SRB emphasised that all infrastructure works, structures, and activities carried out within navigable rivers shall comply with the requirements of the Sarawak Rivers Ordinance, 1993 and its subsidiary regulations. ZECON Berhad was advised to obtain SRB approval prior to commencement of the project, including submission of the required supporting documents, detailed engineering drawings, completed application forms, payment of prescribed fees, and arrangements for a joint site inspection. The safety aspects of the project were also highlighted, including the installation of adequate Aids to Navigation (AtoN), ensuring that all vessels engaged in the project, including work boats, possess valid River Transport Permits (RTP), issuance of Riverine Notices for effective traffic monitoring, provision of sufficient water level information to determine safe navigation windows, and compliance with other relevant safety requirements to prevent obstruction to navigation and ensure safe operations. The engagement session reaffirms SRB’s commitment to facilitating infrastructure development in Sarawak in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements towards achieving safe, clean, and sustainable rivers.
